3 More Layouts

Here are a few more layouts that I have been working on the last few days. These are all one page layouts that will go in my 2010 book. I didn't want to be stuck on 2 page layouts and only use one or two pictures on a page--it's just not my scrappy style.

Here is a layout from when my hubby and I went to see Henry Rollins on a spoken word tour. Letters are Birthday Bash (I think) and Lyrical Letters and the microphone is from Everyday Paper Dolls. I also use an EK Success punch for the plaid border.

Here is a page from a baby shower I went to for a cousin. She was having a boy but the pictures didn't scream baby shower, so I kept it neutral and used some animals from Create a Critter because she did animals in the little man's room. The letters are from Nate's ABCs and I just used some twine and buttons to finish it off.

And finally, I have a page from a quick trip to the zoo to see the polar bears. My nephew wasn't having the greatest day so we didn't spend a long time there but I still got to see the new exhibit! The bear and igloo are from Create a Critter and the letters are from Birthday Bash and Lyrical Letters.

Now on to work on some more pages...maybe I will finish 2010 before the summer is over???

Snow Girl Layout

Hi. My name is Amanda and I have a confession to make. I am a linear, symmetrical scrapper. I have a hard time doing things that are out of line and usually my 2 page layouts are perfect mirror images. Today I FINALLY broke out of my comfort zone and made a 2 page layout that was not symmetrical. It is very linear with clean, straight lines, but it's not symmetrical!

Here is a better view of page 1:

I cut the snowflakes and the tag from Winter Woodland, which I just got yesterday. It has really pretty images and came in handy today!

Here is page 2:

I cut the title from Don Juan and the little snowman is from Winter Frolic. Paper is from DCWV stack called Tis the Season. I followed a sketch from Page Maps.

I am pretty happy with the way it came out. I embellished the pages at different times so something about the "Snow Day" tag and the "Snow Girl" title bothers me, but it's all stuck on there and it isn't moving!

Princess, the family dog

In 1998, I went with my neighbor and friend to pick up a rambunctious, cute, licky black lab puppy that he and his family had picked out to be their new family pet. They named her Princess and she was instantly a big part of their family. Fast forward, to 2011 and that friend is my husband of 6 1/2 years (and significant other of 12 1/2 years) and that black lab is no longer with the family. My hubby's parents had to make the terrible decision to put her to sleep a few weeks ago and they have been greatly missing her. I decided I would make and frame a photo layout of her to give to them. (I only had pictures that my mother-in-law took and she isn't the greatest photographer, but I think it adds to the specialness of the layout.)

I followed a sketch that I got from Scrapbooks Etc. and used paper from My Mind's Eye (Totally Girl).

I cut the dog from Nate's ABCs, the crown from Once Upon A Princess, the letters from Birthday Bash and the circle tag and heart from Four Legged Friends. I just did a few quick journaling strips, twine and a bit of white faux stitching to finish it off.

I know my in-laws are going to love it and I can't wait to give it to them this weekend.

Twinkle Toes

Since I bought this cartridge, I have had this card in my head. I have no reason to own a ballerina cartridge other than I just thought the images of the little ballet girls were sooooo sweet! I also can't wait to use the animals in tutus!

I cut the ballerina from Twinkle Toes, of course and the background shape from Once Upon A Princess. The paper is DCWV Sweet stack and the stamp is Pink by Design Simply Everything set. I added a few layers of ribbon, a little sparkle and some white faux stitching. I also pop-dotted the ballerina and her background so she wouldn't bend over the ribbon.

I just think she is tooooo cute and I think I am going to send her to my niece, just cuz I can!

Teacher Thanks

As a substitute teacher, I typically work in different schools each day and I don't spend a lot of time talking to other teachers in the school. I am a rather reserved person so I just go in, do a good job with the class and go home. However, I work a lot at one specific school where I also did my student teaching. This past school year, I have subbed a lot for the first grade teachers who always tried to request me when possible. They are so kind and generous and treat me like a colleague as opposed to an employee, which is how I feel at other schools. Of course, I hope to join them if a position is available and I am lucky enough to snag it for next year.

Anyway, to show my gratitude, I decided to make each of the first grade teachers a card! Luckily, my brand new set of stamps came by My Pink Stamper. I got a set of animal puns and the cupcake set and I put the animal puns to good use today! (I also got a cute set by Pink by Design, which I will show on projects at a later date!)

Without  further ado, here are the seven cards I have worked on this weekend:

All of the animals are cut from Create a Critter and the background shapes were all from Once Upon A Princess (I think). The sentiments are all from that set by My Pink Stamper, except the bird one--I have no idea who made that sentiment stamp! Of course, I added touches of ribbon, white pen and twine as necessary!

I hope you enjoy looking; I am sure they will love these cards and I had a wonderful time making them!

It's DONE!!!

I am so done with my OSU scrapbook! I think it was about a month ago that my mom told me she got OSU ribbon on clearance and I decided that I had to finally make my book from the games in 2009. I have posted my other pages previously here, here and here if you would like to take a look. And, here are the pages for the last two games and the closing page.

This is for our game against New Mexico State on Halloween:

Here are the pages from the Iowa Hawkeyes game that earned The Bucks a trip to the Rose Bowl:

And, the final page of the book!

I love this last page, especially the picture of hubby when I forced him to smile with his teeth! Such a cute face!

When I look back at the book, I wonder if it is too plain and boring. But then I realized I designed it that way in my handy-dandy idea book. I didn't want the fluff and bling--it is a football book after all! I have always been a linear scrapper and it's hard to break the mold. I am going to start scrapping pictures in 2010 (if I start with old pictures I will never get caught up!) and I will be a "fancy" scrapper. My pictures will always be the focus but I plan to use more layering, diecuts and embellishing!

8 More OSU Pages

I had most of these done the other day, I just went through and added the finishing touches today. I wanted to work on some of the My Pink Stamper challenges, but I just couldn't start more stuff without finishing a few projects. I just have way too many things going on right now!

Here are the pages from OSU VS Wisconsin:

Here are the ones from OSU VS Minnesota:

I have nine more pages to do and I am done with my book! I have most of the cuts done for those pages but I need to cut all of the photo mats, which take quite a while to do. I put the completed pages in an album today and I just love how they are looking. I can't wait to get them all done so I can show it off to my family!

National Scrapbooking Day Challenges

I have been really sick this week and I couldn't even sit up for two days so I was very behind on my Mother's Day cards. Today (Saturday--it's after midnight so this will say Sunday, but it's still Saturday to me!) My Pink Stamper had hourly challenges and I was able to fit my cards into a few of them even though I didn't get them done during the hour.

Here is the first one which is for my mom:
I am not super thrilled how to came out but it fits Challenge #4, which is simply to make a Mother's Day project. I cut the flower from Mother's Day Bouquet--it is my newest cart but I have barely used it because I have been working on a football scrapbook--no flowers in that one! I cut the middle tag from Once Upon a Princess and the word "mother's" is from Lyrical Letters.
I used memory thread and a button in the middle of the flower and i think that's my favorite part!

And, here is the other one for my mother-in-law:
Again, not super-stoked about how it came out, but it fits into Challenge #2--use kraft paper on a project. I love kraft paper so this wasn't a challenge! I used the same cartridges as the previous card and used memory thread again with a button.

The only thing I really like about this card is the adorable bow! It turned out soooo cute; just wish I didn't have to smash it to go in an envelope! Also, too bad that I forgot to give it to my mother-in-law this evening when I saw her!

I hope to complete a few more of the challenges tomorrow. Being sick kind of zapped my crafty spirit so I hope it comes back tomorrow!

OSU Scrapbook, Pg 4-11

I have 8 more pages from my OSU book that I was able to put the finishing touches on this weekend! I am just loving the way it is turning out. I have really missed scrapping and I am going to start working on my 2010 book. I decided not to start way back at 01 when I moved out or I will never catch up!

Anyway, here are the pages from two football games, USC and Illinois.

I used Sports Mania and Lyrical Letters on the cuts on these pages from the USC game. It was our first game at night at The Shoe and we had tons of fun!

It was pouring rain for the Illinois game and we huddled under the scoreboard to stay out of the rain. We sat in a section that was general admission and we always sat up there anyway, but for this game we had tons of "friends." Again, I used Sports Mania. I used the soccer scoreboard and modified it tons to fit my needs. I also used Everyday Paper Dolls to make the replicas of me and Travis. I also used Nate's ABCs for the rainboots and Pooh and Friends (I think) for the umbrella and raindrops. I also have touches of twine and ribbon throughout to add some dimension.

Thanks for looking and more to come!
