Buckeye Bucket

My husband's boss--the only boss he has had in his nearly 7 years as a CAD drafter--left the company last week and we wanted to do something as a thank you for him. He shares our love of the Buckeyes and I have been etching everything I can get my hands on, so we decided to put together some OSU glasses and other things for him.
I used Varsity Letter to cut the Block O in contact paper, transferred it to the glass and left the etching cream on for about 30 minutes. The one in the picture is the best one--some of the others had spots where the cream got under the contact paper. Even though it is really inexpensive compared to expensive vinyl, sometimes I think vinyl is a better option. The contact paper that I have isn't very sticky and I have problems getting to it fully stick to the glass. Also, I may have been rushing a bit to get it done and didn't take my time. In any case, they weren't too bad; especially since the glasses were only $1 at Dollar Tree.

We put the four glasses, coasters and a bottle opener in an OSU button, tied some cute OSU, scarlet and grey ribbon on it and threw in a football notecard that I made using Sports Mania and some OSU paper. My hubby wrote a nice little note on the back and gave it to his boss. His boss loved it and said it would match perfectly with his other bar stuff!

Finished Layouts!

I finally have some layouts to post! I just decided to make some crafty time and embellished some of the layouts that I had set up.

These are some pictures that I took when my nieces were home from Florida. They could not wait to get in the creek and find some crawdads. They were too wimpy to actually grab them but we had so much fun! I used From My Kitchen for the "crawdad" and I can't remember what I used for the font.

Isn't she a stinkin' cutie? We had a wonderful time baking the Father's Day cake. I adore baking with my beautiful little assistant. I made border with images on From My Kitchen and I also used that cartridge for the oven and the piece of cake. I used Lyrical Letters for the title.
I decided to make a layout of the first pumpkin roll that I have ever made! I like how it turned out and I put the steps on each picture. It's simple but I really like it. I used Birthday Cakes for the title and made the pumpkin from Mini Monsters.

I like how this one turned out. My hubby and I went to see Jim Norton last April and we had sooooo much fun! The title is made from Lyrical Letters and Boys Will Be Boys. It's a bit cheeky because he is so crass and inappropriate so I wanted to make a "fancy" title! The microphone is from Rock Princess.

Hopefully I can get some more done today!

I finally used my Cricut Cake!

Why is it that I am in my last day of a 13 day vacation and I have barely had a moment to do anything crafty? Ugh.

I decided the other night that I was going to break out the Cricut Cake. I was so excited to buy it and I haven't had anytime/motivation to learn how to use it. And really, I didn't have anything to bake to use it. It's not like I want to make a giant cake for me and the hubs, who doesn't even like cake! He does love pie and wanted me to make him a blackberry pie. So I broke out Craft Room (which I only kind of like but I am trying to use it more often) and designed a little topper to our pie.
It cut out really well. I do think that my dough was just a little too thick but otherwise it looked great.

Then I had to do the hard part...transfer it to the pie! Well, my poor name just couldn't take the stress and sort of fell apart!

I learned a few things for my next time using it.
1. Don't cut so close to the edge of the dough.
2. Use simpler fonts with less thin sports.
3. Don't cut my name becasue it's too complex! :)

Here is the finished product!

Not the neatest and not perfect...but it tasted yummy and gave me a chance to use my Cake. I vow to use it more often and get better before my nieces 3rd birthday in March and my nephew's 5th birthday only a week later!
