Such a tater head!

Because I share the laptop that has Design Studio on it with my hubby and he really enjoys watching every second of his fantasy football updates on Sunday, I haven't gotten many layouts completed. I have about 4 of them on the cardstock with their accent papers--I just need to title and embellish. Hopefully soon, I will have a bunch more to add, but for today I have one.

This layout is of my niece playing with a Mrs. Potato Head toy that my hubby and I got for her. She was so intent with it for a while and I love how the pictures look. The funniest thing to me is that she is wearing a Happy Birthday to Me shirt and the pictures were taken a month before her birthday--guess she was trying to get everyone pumped up early! :)

I used Toy Story for the cuts of the Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head and for the words "Potato Head." It's hard to see in this picture but the title is actually "Little Miss Potato Head." I used some twine and a few buttons to finish it up. I really love how the colors of the paper compliment her shirt.

Here is a closeup of the title block that shows the title a little better. You can see it fine in person--not sure why a picture makes it look so weird!

So that's that for today. I think we have plans to stay home all weekend so hopefully I can finish up some of the layouts that I have started!

Layouts, Layouts and More Layouts!

I am so behind on posting my layouts so I have a lot to share today!

Here are some sports layouts that I did using Sports Mania:

This next one is quite simple. I did a photo shoot for some of my hubby's family (they are all one family--if that makes sense) and this are just a few pictures that I wanted to add to my 2010 book. Pretty sure the little camera is from Create a Critter and I'm not sure where I got the flower accents that I used.

Black Friday shopping is always so fun, yet so exhausting! I snapped a few pictures from last year and love how this layout turned out. I used Doodlecharms for the stars.

Last year, hubby and I went trick-or-treating around the neighborhood with our nephew who dressed up like Buzz Lightyear. In the layout, I combined traditional Halloween colors with a huge Buzz cutout.
In my town, they decorate the courthouse and square with Christmas lights. I tried to take my niece to see them but she wasn't interested--she had fallen asleep in the car and wasn't pleased to be awake! I used Create a Critter for the lights and Winter Frolic for the bulb.

Each Father's Day, we have been having a big cookout at my mom's to celebrate. This is a very simple layout from last year--I just couldn't decide what I would embellish it with so I left it plain! I do love how the title came out...I welded together a bunch of different fonts to make it.
I have a wedding layout next. Simple again. I used Doodlecharms and Mother's Day Bouquet on this one. I picked up the colors of the wedding in the paper.
And I have two more 2 pagers left! They are from our cookout and fireworks last year. I used Doodlecharms, Sweet Treats and Block Party on these.

Thank you so much for looking at the crazy long post! I should not get so behind again!

1st Birthday Card and Toy Story Frame

My hubby and I are going to a 1st birthday party on Saturday (and another one in two weeks) so I wanted to make something for the birthday boy and a card, of course. His room is changing to Toy Story so I put the cartridge to use to make a frame for him.
I like this, but I am not loving how it came out. I think they will like it alot I just wish something was different about it. Don't know what, just something.

And this card. Ugh. This card is soooo simple but it took me forever. I couldn't find the right paper. Then the ribbon I picked didn't match the blue paper. Then I couldn't stamp right. But here it is and I think it looks pretty good.

I used Rock Princess for the cupcake (it's my favorite cupcake ever!) and embossed it with D'Vine Swirls. I used a Pink Stamper stamp and a little blue ribbon and a few blue brads. It's done and I'm satisfied.

Next up, Father's Day cards.

Boy Challenge Complete!

I have successfully finished my challenge of making 25 boy birthday cards, which I will send to the soldiers.
I have posted several different sets and now I am going to post my final 8 that I finished up last night. I used a bunch of brads, buttons, twine, craft cord, a few with the Sew Easy, a bunch of Cricut cartridges, sentiment stamps and tons of paper and glue!

This cute little dump truck is from Boys Will Be Boys and I think it looks good with the black and red contrasting on the brads, twine and paper.
Another cut from Boys Will Be Boys--that cartridge is so simple to layer and turns out really cute. I accidentally cut him a little too big for his rectangle (which I already had glued on the paper from DCWV All About Boys), but I still like how he turns out. A little cord and buttons finish the look.

This is probably one of my favorite cards and it is so simple. Who would have thought a cupcake and crossbones would be so great together? I love this cut from Rock Princess, with some D'Vine Swirls and red Stickles.
I made these cuts from Simply Charmed and I think it turned out so cute. I embossed the black paper with Traffic Jam and pop dotted the pizza over the hot dog and hamburger. Ssshhh, don't tell but I cut my red squares too big and they wouldn't fit if I didn't overlap them!

I made the cut from Toy Story with the three aliens and split them into two different cards and used the same sentiment, which is from Lyrical Letters.

I was shocked that this little "It's Your Birthday" actually cut out...not only once, but twice! I cut it three times and only one didn't work, which never happens for me!

Another quick card using Toy Story and DCWV All About Boys stack. Add a button and some yellow twine and it's complete!

I made this green and orange dinosaur from Create a Critter and used the DinoMite sentiment in combination with some stamps. I love how the orange, blue and green work together.
And my last button and craft cord of the challenge!

I am so excited how these turned out, but I am soooo glad that it's over! I am ready for some pink, glitter and ribbon!

Masculine Birthday Cards

First of all, thanks soooo much to all of my new followers and all of the comments on my blog hop post from yesterday! I will leave it open today and pick a winner on Monday! I am so, so excited to have so many new followers and I look forward to sharing my crafts and looking at everyone elses blog's as well!

Now for my personal challenge...
I set myself a challenge to complete 25 masculine birthday cards--a HUGE undertaking because I like all types of girly things and don't find a lot of motivation to make stuff for boys. I started sketching and was pretty proud of the designs that I came up with and I ordered Boys Will Be Boys, which has been on my wish list for a while. I was able to grab it from Ebay for a good price/free shipping and I should be getting it in a few days.

Anyway, I have made 7 so far--6 for the Cards for Soldiers group and one for my sister's boyfriend. You can see the first two cards here and here. I thought I would post the others in groups of 5.

Mr. Snake is from Create a Critter, the background paper is Recollections Bright and Basic, embossing is Spots and Dots and the twine is from The Twinery.

The Ipod is from Rock Princess (who knew you could make boy cards with a cartridge named Rock Princess!), background paper is The Paper Studio Classics and the pod is cut from DCWV Shimmer Stack--makes it look so real!
Rex from Toy Story and background paper is DCWV Animal Crackers. Originally I thought Rex would be pretty easy to put together--I DID NOT account for those stinking little teeth. I had to draw some in with the white pen because I couldn't get those teensy-weensy little pieces to cut right!

Not really my favorite (didn't turn out exactly like I pictured in my head), but the presents and hat are from Simply Charmed, embossing is Swiss Dots and Sizzix Birthday Stars and background paper is Recollections Bright and Basic.
Oh, Mr. Hook is last for today! His teeth were a hassle too! I cut his hook from DCWV Shimmer Stack so it looks like real metal. I think the background paper is from Recollections All Girl stack and the sentiment is from S&P Stamps.

All done for now! Should have five more cards shortly...I am making a Tinkerbell cake for my niece's 2nd birthday this weekend so I will be working on that this week as well!

2 New Projects

First, I have some ABC cards that I made for my (almost) 2 year old niece. She loves to read and she loves animals! I made cards out of heavy, brightly colored cardstock and cut the letters using Base Camp in bright white. Then, I used tons of different cartridges to make images to represent those letters. I used a lot of animals because they are easily recognizable to her. I also laminated them and set eyelets so they would move smoothly on the ring. I wish I had a little bit bigger ring, but I could not find it at any of my local stores. I gave them to her today and she loved them! She looked at them all through the mall and was able to point out a lot of the images on the cards.

And, here is the little Bug herself, reading with her Uncle Travis (my hubby!)

I made another Toy Story card tonight using the Slinky Dog. He was cut at about 5 inches and wasn't too hard to piece together. I used a silver shimmer paper for his slinky so it looked metal and I love how that part turned out! It took me forever to decide the background paper and I think that part turned out pretty good.

Lazy weekend coming up...oh, what to do???

Bullseye Good Luck Card

Real quick post to show a card I made from my newest Ebay purchase. When I was looking through the book and saw this version of Bullseye, I thought that it had to go on a good luck card. Took forever to piece all that brown paper together but I think it was worth it in the end!

After this episode of Gossip Girl, I must go to bed. Get to see that gorgeous niece of mine tomorrow!
